Activities in Jaco Costa Rica

With all there is to offer, no wonder Jaco is more popular than ever.

Nearby Beach, Herradura, just 4.4 miles (7 kilometers) north, offers a calm atmosphere.  Also, just south of Jaco is Playa Hermosa, a silencer of 6 miles (10 km) section of black sand beach loved by swimmers and surfers.

This is where the International Quicksilver Championships are held every year in August. Playa Hermosa Wildlife Refuge (Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Playa Hermosa) is the beach of choice for sea turtles that come ashore to nest each year. If a hotel with a quiet place, this is what you want, these coastal cities around recommended.

Carara Biological Reserve (Carara Biological Reserve) is only 9.3 miles (15 km) north of Jaco. With several miles of trails open to visitors (some only with a tour group), is an ideal place to observe wildlife in Costa Rica more. Early morning or evening is usually the best time to see the amount of scarlet macaws resting on mangroves. It is also possible to see alligators, white-faced monkeys, peccaries, coatis and a variety of birds. The park opens at 7 am and closes at 17 pm. Admission is $ 6.

Tarcoles River (RioTarcoles), which borders the park and empties into the Pacific Ocean, is a great place to attend the closing of the American crocodile. Boat trips are available to see crocodiles, many of which appear to be several meters long! At the mouth of the Tarcoles Guacalillo mangroves play a vital role for the survival of many species of wildlife that can be found here.

Manuel Antonio National Park is located near Jaco as it sits majestically, 43 miles (69 km) south. Punta Leona Wildlife Refuge (Refuge Punta Leona) is another place visitors have a good chance to see wildlife, which lies along the road north of the town of Jaco in Tarcoles.

There are, however, concerns about Jaco drugs, crime and prostitution. Be aware of your surroundings and use common sense will help you avoid undesirable situations.
